Since 2006, the Brain and Trauma Foundation Graubünden/Switzerland (GTSG) has been committed to application-oriented research that directly benefits people, in particular through the development of objective biomarkers for neurodivergent conditions. This workshop brings together leading experts to discuss the current state of biomarker research and develop concrete steps for clinical implementation. On December 11, 2025, the Biomarker Workshop 2025 will take place in Zurich, focusing on complementary, objective biological diagnostics for ADHD, autism, anxiety, and sensory sensitivity.

As a highlight, world-renowned autism experts Tony Attwood and Michelle Garnett will present their keynote address, drawing on a career spanning five decades ACND | Professor Tony Attwood & Dr. Michelle Garnett and over 80 years of combined clinical experience. Their presentation, “Beyond the Stereotypes: Biomarkers for the Hidden Presentations of Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety,” promises deep insights from their extensive practice. He has worked with an estimated 8,000 clients with some form of ASD diagnosis Children and Adolescents with Autism: Masterclass with Prof Tony Attwood and Dr Michelle Garnett | SDS Seminars Ltd and his books have been translated into over 25 languages.

In addition to these international luminaries, other experts will enrich the workshop with their specialized perspectives. Nicole Chou will address the little-known but highly relevant topic of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), while Silvana Markovska and Alexander Tenev from Skopje will present neurophysiological findings and their application in everyday clinical practice. Corinne Henzen will combine case vignettes with the neurobiology of the cingulate system and shed light on hypersensitivity as a transdiagnostic marker.

Birgit Graf, who has already spoken at previous GTSG workshops, will demonstrate the practical integration of these concepts in child and adolescent psychiatry. Andreas Müller, CEO of GTSG, will open the day with a visionary perspective on the practical application of biomarkers. The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, with limited space available on site, and offers professionals from psychiatry, neurology, psychology, and related fields a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange.
